Coachella 2016: Our Favourite Styles

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past month, you'll know that festival season has officially kicked-off in the US, with two weekends of Coachella in California over already!  Coachella festival is not only a perfect place to party and listen to some great music, but has recently become a haven for celebrities, bloggers and brands to escape to and showcase new trends for the upcoming festival season.

So while we were at home here in the UK (in the rain, we may add), dreaming of going to Coachella one day, we were avidly following the festival on Instagram and Snapchat, scouting our favourite looks for the upcoming summer season. Check out our favourite outfits and the celebs that styled them below.

It wouldn't be festival fashion without denim shorts - and we love how delicately these are styled above - perfect for the sunshine! Whether they're paired with a sheer blue blouse like Laura Whitmore, with an off-shoulder white top like Millie Mackintosh or with a super cute lace-panelled top worn by blogger Julie Sarinana, we think that everyone can agree that denim is a festival-staple, perfecting that casual look.

Boho style has always been a style staple at Coachella and this year was no exception! We are in love with this pink floaty dress with long sleeves worn by blogger Negin Mirsalehi, paired with black boots and a tied jacket. Kendall Jenner also rocked this style with a cut-out crochet dress. Matched with that huge statement necklace, it gives the outfit a little more edge. Kimberley Garner also looks super cute in her blue and white boho dress. We love how she's matched black accessories to harden the girly look.

Black and white may not instantly come to mind when thinking of Coachella, but we love how these gals styled this super simple but gorgeous look. Swimwear designer Kimberley Garner rocks her own harness-style top with the most beautifully embellished mini, whilst Emily Ratajkowski goes for a double monochrome print dress with simple black booties. Ashley Benson also looked amazing in this sheer black dress with a star print and huge sunnies.

Are you fans of these three styles? What were your favourite celebrity outfits at Coachella?

Sunglasses Favorites SS16

Happy Tuesday!
Spring is well and truly upon us, meaning more sunnier days and lighter evenings, so it's time to bring out the best accessories of all: sunglasses. For today's post we're talking our current favourite sunglasses for Spring/Summer.

S's Favourites

Metal Bar: Topshop
Since the bloom of Christian Dior's 'So Real' sunglasses, many high street stores have included a metal bar detail into their designs. I'm a fan of this metal detail, they add an edge to any sunglasses. The mix of thick frames and metal bar is the perfect mix.

Rose and Nude: Quay Australia
As a girly girl I adore the nude and rose gold combination, and these Quay cat-eye sunglasses have gone to straight to my wish list. The mirrored lenses makes these sunglasses the perfect statement accessory: perfect for a variety of outfits.

Coloured Lens: H&M
A bold, coloured lens has become a popular trend over the past few years and has no sign of disappearing anytime soon. I love this pair from H&M: the amber blue lens against the tortoiseshell frame is very complimentary.

 K's Favourites

Round: Ray Ban
Ray Ban are the ultimate brand when it comes to producing classic sunglasses shapes in simple styles, and this pair of round sunnies are no exception! Throw this pair on to perfect that retro look, with the skinny black frames and gradient tinted lenses.

Cat-Eye: AJ Morgan
I love a good cat-eye! Bold designs with thick frames are super popular right now, but I loved this delicate pair with the translucent colouring and gold bar detail like the ones S has chosen. These are perfect if you want less of a statement look and are perfect for festival season!

Oversized: Le Specs
I can't get enough of these sunglasses: they're so huge and I love them! I feel like the perfect pair of sunnies can really make an outfit, and these can do just that. The tortoiseshell colouring isn't too bold to overpower the shape and makes for a super chic look.

What are your favourite sunglasses for the upcoming Spring/Summer season?

Coachella 2015: Our Best Bits

Happy Sunday!
Coachella is upon us once again and what better way to welcome this year's festival than with a round-up of our favourite styles and looks from last year?! While we're still here in the UK dreaming of festival season, we thought this was the perfect post to get our summer outfit planning started.  This time last year on Eleven Oh Seven we dedicated a whole month for festivals: from fashion and beauty to festival essentials, we covered it all, so if you're going to a festival this year or simply enjoy reading about festival styles, below are the links to our 'Festival Friday' series:

S' Top Three Styles
The three outfits I loved from Coachella 2015 are a mix of styles. Festivals are a great environment to push your boundaries when it comes to your style.
The first outfit I choose for my top three is a crochet dress. This outfit adds a pop of colour and the texture strands out against the festival backdrop. White was a very popular colour in Coachella last year and is very clear to see why: white outfits against the colour-infused festival location made the outfit stand out and add a freshness within the sea of festival goers. The third and final outfit that I loved was this printed co-ord, an effortless yet statement outfit to put together. The matching printed top and shorts are a perfect combination for any boho-inspired festival.

K's Top Three Styles
As I love to wear neutral tones, my three favourite outfits from last year's Coachella festival all follow this theme, but include a mix of boho, relaxed and tailored styles.
I love the pairing of both boho and grunge in the first outfit: the floaty blouse, hair jewellery and fringing on the bag contrast the chunky Doc Marten-esque boots and black accessories and shorts that toughen up the look whilst still looking festival chic in the hot Cali sunshine.
The second look is from one of my favourite bloggers, Sincerely Jules. She rocks the off-duty look so well with the baggy boyfriend fit dungarees paired with a delicate off-the-shoulder blouse - making the outfit a little more girly and soft.
Kate Bosworth's festival style overall at Coachella last year was amazing (still dreaming of that embellished skirt she wore at the Coach Backstage party) but this outfit was by far my favourite. I love the simple white dress paired with the detail embellished jacket and Coach mini stud bag, making for the perfect tailored chic look.

We can't wait to see what this year's Coachella brings us style-wise, since these are the looks that shape the upcoming festival season style.  What were your favourite outfits from last year?

April Wishlist

Today's post is all about our current wishlists for the month (how is it April already?!), including beauty, fashion and anything and everything in-between. Read on to see what we're wishing after this month.

K's Wishlist

April's wishlist for me is a bit of a jumbled one, featuring a range of things I've had my eye on for a while now, and others a bit of a necessity!

If you've been following us for a while, it'll be no surprise to you that I'm obsessed with Rifle Paper Co, and this Alice In Wonderland inspired illustration is the perfect Spring print for any wall - and shows off my tea-and-cake love! Second up isn't really an item or product, but the film Brooklyn that came out late last year. I studied post-War 1950s fashion in a few years back in Uni and the costumes in the movie look beautiful and so true to the time. I never got around to seeing Brooklyn in the cinema but being set in the early 1950s and being a fan of many of the actors, I know I'll love it.  These gorgeous pyjamas are from Victoria's Secret and come in a set with a matching eye-mask. (The Mayfair shorts set is also super cute!) I need some new PJs but I think I'll need to save a little more to afford the price tag for these ones! Moving onto beauty products, I've been lusting over both of these items for a while now, ever since the blogger and YouTuber seal of approval. I've been wanting to try out a liquid lipstick and the Kat Von D Everlasting range has had great reviews. Lolita is a gorgeous pink-brown colour described as 'chestnut rose'.  Charlotte Tilbury is a make-up goddess, and everyone seems to be raving about this product! I love the subtle highlight that is build-able to create a lovely, sculpted contour.

S' Wishlist

As you can see below, my current wishlist is very eclectic with a mix of homeware, beauty and accessories items. As I’ve been spending the last few months in the library or in front of my computer I haven’t spent any time shopping or even browsing online: explaining the miss-match of products that I have been loving over Easter.

As a fan of Lauren Conrad’s book 'Beauty', I cannot wait to get my hands on her new book ‘Celebrate’ being released in the UK on the 7th of April. YSL lipstick has always featured on my beauty wishlists: I have heard so much good feedback and reviews on the lipstick and feel that the end of University will be the perfect time to treat myself to one. As I plan on moving home for for the summer months I have begun to look at interior ideas for my room. I LOVE anything with monograms and these coat hangers from Anthropologie are no exception. I have been lusting over the Kate Spade bangles since last summer: the pop of colour that the blue brings will brighten up anyone’s day, and finally this black backpack from ASOS is perfect for any summer adventure.

We hope you liked our current wishlists? Do you share any of ours, or have any of these items?! We'd love for you to share your current loves with us.

See you on Sunday for another post, but in the meantime: have a lovely week!

Finding the Perfect Base: Our Current Favourite Foundations

Happy Sunday!

Today we wanted to share with you our current favourite foundations, between the two of use we have tried A LOT of different foundations and are finally pleased with the results of our current products. If you're unhappy with your current foundation or simply your looking for a new one to try out then this post will hopefully inspire you to try the products that we're loving at the moment!

S' Choice:
For me, foundation is one of the most important elements of my make up routine: creating the perfect base is key. I always feel that the rest of my make up looks better when I'm wearing a foundation that compliments my skin type.
I have been spending the last few months experimenting with different foundations in the hope to find the one most suited to my skin. My skin has become more dry over the past year, meaning that I look for a hydrating foundation that doesn't make my make up look heavy and cakey. Over the past months I have tried a variety of foundations, including: Rimmel Wake Me Up, Loreal True Match, Garnier BB Cream and Rimmel Match Perfection, I found over time these foundations made my make up look too heavy and my skin dry.
My current foundation is Bourjois Healthy Mix. This foundation is currently perfect for my skin, matching the tone of my skin and eliminating any awkward foundation lines, as well as having the right amount of coverage without making my make up appear too heavy. This formula is the most hydrating formula I have used over the past months making my completion appear less dry and more hydrated adding an overall glow to my make up.

K's Choice:
The search for a good foundation has been a long one for me, as I have combination to oily skin and am prone to blemishes. Due to this, I've always favoured a matte-look for my base as my skin can get oily during the day, so an oil-based foundation is a no-go for me. I also tend to go for medium to high coverage foundations to cover up any redness and blemishes that I have.
In the past, I've used so many different bases, with some favourites being Bourjois Healthy Mix and the Healthy Mix Serum and Tarte's Amazonian Clay (for summer use, on days when I feel I don't want or need a full face of foundation as my skin is a little too oily for this to last all day).
But my current favourite, and the foundation that I've been using for about 8 months now is the Estée Lauder Double Wear.  I wear the shade N1 - Ecru after being given a colour match in store and a sample to take home and try (I'd highly recommend getting a sample to take home with any foundation as it gives you the option to try it with your other make up products). This foundation not only lasts well (especially when powdered in oily areas for extra-staying power) but covers up most blemishes (darker spots will need concealing), blends really well into the skin and gives a matte appearance. Being a little more on the pricey side compared to my previous foundation choices, I was a little apprehensive at first but a little of the product really does go a long way, making the price less of an issue for me. If you're thinking of trying this foundation, I'd highly recommend it, but definitely get colour tested at your local counter - you don't want to end up buying the wrong shade!

We hope you enjoyed reading about our current base favourites - we've certainly tried a lot of different products over the years to get the perfect ones for our skin types! What are your favourite foundations? Or do you have any recommendations of your base-loves?
